Footprints/Handprints:
What we will do to your ink print image:
If they aren’t already we will cut the feet/handprints out of the background, removing any paper from the background.
We will remove any ink marks far from the feet or obviously not part of the ink print, we will leave marks that came from the ink printing process.
We will change your image to black and white even if the image is of black ink. This process may darken your image slightly.
If the footprints are far apart we will bring the prints closer together.

How to photograph black and white images (ink prints / handwritten notes / ultrasounds):
Make sure there is even lighting across the prints.
Lay your ink prints on a flat surface and hold camera lens is parallel to the flat surface to take the photograph.
Hold the camera as close to the image as possible, avoid using your cameras zoom to get closer to the image. (Using the zoom on your camera will lower the quality of image.)
Make sure the photo is focused on the subject.

How to photograph the ink prints with a ruler for scaling:
Follow the same instructions for photographing the ink prints, maintaining good lighting, holding the camera lens parallel to the ink prints, the subject is in focus, and avoid using your cameras zoom.
Use a ruler in inches.
Lay the ruler to either side of the ink prints, not overlapping the prints.
What size will my ink print be?
We have four options for how we scale your image:
Option 1: Scale to the image to best fit the urn
We will scale the image to fit in the space available above the text, following the average height available for the urn size. We will leave space between the top of the image and the top of the urn.
Option 2: Scale the image to approximate actual size:
You include an image of the footprints/handprints with a ruler in inches laid next to the image. We will use the measurement on the ruler to get as close to approximate size as we can. If there is not enough space on the urn you choose for the measurement of the foot/handprint image, we will scale it to the average size allowed for that size urn.
Option 3: Scale the image to how the customer has positioned it in the preview:
Within our layout tool the customer positioned their footprints exactly where they wanted them. We use the layout preview to scale and position your image.
Option 4: Use the generic feet
We will use the generic feet icon and scale and position it the same as Option 1: Scale to best fit.
Will my ink prints be approximate actual scale?
Each footprint/handprint listing includes the maximum space available for an image. Please pay careful attention while ordering. If you request approximate actual size scaling and we are not able to accommodate, we will scale the image to the average size it can be for that size urn.
Average available image space for each urn size:
| Size | Above Text | Without Text |
| Extra Small | 0.75" | 1.25" |
| Small | 1" | 1.75" |
| Medium Tall | 1.25" | 3" |
| Medium Low | 1.25" | 2.25" |
| Large Low | 1.5" | 3.25" |
What if I want my image larger than the maximum sizes for the urn size I need:
We have a couple of options, the most popular being to add some of the lines of text to the back or have the image to the back by itself. Most likely, you will want to upgrade to a larger size urn if you want the ink prints to scale.
Will the color of the urn affect the Footprint/Handprint images?
Depending on the look of the prints, we may adjust the image to darken or lighten the image in order to print as close to the real image as possible.
We offer the ink print option on all of our glaze colors, some colors can change the look of your ink print. The color of urn you choose may require us to darken or lighten your image.
Dark black areas in the ink print will cover the color of the glaze underneath better than lighter grey colors. Any white or very light grey in the image will show the color of the glaze underneath.

What we will do to your handwritten note:
If the note isn’t already, we will cut the letters out of of the background, removing any paper from the background.
We will try and keep as much details as possible, only removing any marks obviously not part of the note. We will leave any small letter tails or accidents unless told explicitly to remove them.
We will change your image to black and white even if the note is written in black ink. This process may darken your image slightly.
We will slightly straighten the entire note, not each word or letter.
If the handwriting is light or faded, we will darken it to make sure the text is readable.
What we will do to your ultrasound image:
We will use the image how it is placed in the layout preview when you order. Please crop you image accordingly before you upload. The color of the urn will show through any white in the image.
Full Color Images
Choosing a photo for photos in full color:
Image is not, pixelated, blurry, or overly compressed.
Image has adequate and even natural or artificial lighting.
The main subject is fully visible, not cropped at the top of the head or missing a hand.
The main subject is centered in frame and clearly visible.
The photo must be original or you must own all and complete copyrights to the image.
If you need to take a photo of an image, follow the same instructions for photographing the ink prints, maintaining good lighting, holding the camera lens parallel to the ink prints, the subject is in focus, and avoid using your cameras zoom.

What will we do to your photo in full color:
Depending on the option you choose, we will fade the background, remove the background, or leave the image as it. We may need to darken or lighten your image depending on the quality of the image.
Our printer is limited in quality, make sure to maintain good lighting, hold the camera lens parallel to the ink prints, and avoid using your cameras zoom.
Glaze color options:
For photos in full color we only offer gloss white. The image does not fully cover the glaze underneath, any glaze color would affect the images. The images are ceramic toner images that are fired and fused into the glaze surface. They do not contain a white pigment, so all of the white areas or light colored areas are transparent. The photos will not be a true color match, as they will fire in the kiln to a more muted color range.
Photo quality information:
Our printer has limited quality. At every step your image will lose quality as it gets printed, and fired in the kiln. To ensure the best results, upload a 300 dpi image. If you are concerned about photo quality you can email us your photo at vitrifiedstudio2@gmail.com, make sure to include your order number in your email.
